According to a report released on Sunday by the China Passenger Car Association, Tesla Inc. delivered 83,135 China-made electric vehicles in September, breaking its monthly record (CPCA).
The figure is an 8% rise from August and a record for Tesla’s Shanghai factory since manufacturing began in December 2019, surpassing the previous high of 78,906 in June, as the American automaker continues to invest in Chinese production.
“The record high sales of China-made Tesla cars showed electric vehicles have been leading the mobility trend,” said Tesla in a statement.
In the third quarter, Tesla delivered 343,830 electric vehicles worldwide, a record for the most valuable automaker in the world, but fewer than the 359,162 analysts on average had anticipated.
Following a major production halt at the Tesla Shanghai facility in July, the EV manufacturer accelerated its China deliveries, increasing the factory’s weekly manufacturing capacity to about 22,000 units from levels of about 17,000 in June.
