Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla (TSLA.O) intends to double vehicle sales in Germany by 2022.
Tesla is attempting to increase German sales after CEO Elon Musk handed over the first Model Ys built at a factory near Berlin to customers in March. The plant’s expansion has been halted after the local municipal council postponed a vote on the development plan indefinitely.
“Our goal is to double sales each year, which translates into around 80,000 units in 2022,” said a Tesla Executive.
The electric car manufacturer sold 39,714 units in Europe’s largest economy in 2021 and will continue to aim for an annual doubling of shipments. Also, Tesla sold 24,734 vehicles in Germany in the fiscal year ending in August and will try to attract more customers by opening stores and improving service offerings.
