NBA and Google have come up with the Pixel Arena, a virtual space tied to the 2022 NBA Playoffs, which can be accessed from the NBA mobile app. The project aims to give fans and spectators a virtual experience based on real-time stats and figures from games. The NBA mobile app users can access the pixel Arena by selecting a particular game they want to play using the phone’s gyroscope.
The app also allows users to customize avatars and watch shot recaps of the game in the virtual space during halftime and after the game. Daryl Butler, vice president of U.S. Devices and Services Marketing at Google said, “The experience brings a whole new meaning to courtside.” The deal between the companies is a multi-year agreement that includes developing immersive experiences like AR, VR and 3D technology.
