SpaceX will launch satellites for its competitor OneWeb, which deals in the broadband business. The deal includes starting satellites for internet-beaming services for the UK-based company.
OneWeb is currently focusing on providing internet services through the B2B model rather than the B2C model. This deal will strengthen its position in the commercial internet business as SpaceX already has the technological experience with its Starlink satellites.
The first group of satellites is now set to launch later this year which will strengthen its internet coverage. OneWeb has 428 satellites at present which is about 68% of the total satellites required to provide non-stop high-quality internet to its customer base. SpaceX sees this as a strategic partnership with future implications.
