Due to an increase in the reservations of its electric GMC Hummer pickups and SUVs, the giant automaker has decided to increase its production. The reservations number is much higher than expected by the company’s marketers and it looks to leverage the high demand and recently gained popularity.
Global VP of GMC, Duncan Aldred said, “Production’s actually slightly ahead of plan and we’re putting things in place now to actually expedite that as well, so we can deliver these reservations quicker than we originally thought, we’re seeing momentum building.”
The SUV is expected to arrive in 2023 but the frenzy regarding EVs has sent the company’s registers ringing. Hummer is still in its early days of production at the GMC plant in Detroit. The SUV, viewed as a flagship product for the brand, is the first to include next-generation battery cells and Ultium.
