Following the consequences of COVID-19 and multiple controversies over the last couple of years, ESA president and CEO Stan Pierre-Louis announced E3’s complete return in 2023 online and in person.
Stan said, “As much as we love these digital events, and as much as they reach people and we want that global reach, we also know that there’s a really strong desire for people to convene — to be able to connect in person and see each other and talk about what makes games great.”
The Los Angeles-based convention has served the video game industry as an epicenter for major announcements and game launches. However, the gap created by E3 has been bridged by its competitors like Nintendo Direct, Sony’s State of Play, and Microsoft, giving games room to breathe and easing the costs of publishers.
Gamers are hoping that E3 restores its glory in 2023 and once again becomes an epicenter.
