The eco-friendly footwear and apparel company Allbirds launches its collection of activewear that includes, high-waisted leggings, biker shorts, and a running tank with a built-in bra. The authentic clothing is made of synthetic, plastic-based materials—such as polyester, nylon, and spandex—which have stretchy, moisture-wicking qualities.
The company has also kept away using polyester that makes up to 55% of all clothing means 700 million tons of carbon into the atmosphere every year. Rather, it has come up with creative fiber blends, that are made from 75% plant-based or recycled materials.
“For us at Allbirds, the disconnect between what we wear to improve our personal health and its negative impact on the health of our planet seemed like an important space for us to tackle. Running apparel is typically made of synthetic materials, derived from barrels of oil” - said co-founder Tim Brown.
