In an effort to address what is arguably one of the biggest complaints about the platform, Airbnb announced on Monday that it plans to make the complete cost of rental properties, including all fees, clearer to customers as they search for accommodations.
The business announced that, as an alternative to just showing the nightly rate before fees, search results will now also display the entire cost of properties before taxes, including cleaning and other service fees. Previous users have expressed dissatisfaction that the fees weren’t made clear until near the end of the booking process.
According to a blog post on the Airbnb website, the company also intends to rank search results by total price rather than by nightly price.
CEO Brain Chesky tweeted on Monday, “I’ve heard you loud and clear—you feel like prices aren’t transparent. In May 2021, Airbnb made an announcement regarding a review of its fee structure in response to online complaints from customers.
