Ford is capitalizing on the growing van life movement by releasing a new model designed specifically for RV enthusiasts. The automaker unveiled its adventure-focused Transit commercial van, the 2023 Transit Trail, on Thursday.
Numerous upgrades on the $65,975 model are intended for professional and do-it-yourself camper-van builders. Recent years have seen a dramatic increase in interest in traveling and living in RVs, driven by the work-from-anywhere revolution and shifting travel patterns brought on by the pandemic.
Ford reports a 30% increase in Class-B motorhome sales over the previous year (van-sized RVs).
It can be challenging to outfit an RV out of a basic commercial van without making significant modifications. With standard features like increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and a more robust bumper to deflect rocks, the Transit Trail gives buyers a head start. All of this serves to increase the Transit’s off-road capabilities.
