Warner Bros. has announced that the ‘Batgirl’ movie, which was slated to bring the DC Comics character to the big screen, will no longer be released. The movie was set to star ‘In the Heights’ star Leslie Grace in the title role and was helmed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. It was planned for release on the HBO Max streaming service later this year.
A Warner Bros. representative stated that “the decision not to release ‘Batgirl’ reflects our leadership’s strategy adjustment as it relates to the DC universe and HBO Max.” The statement said, “Leslie Grace is a tremendously brilliant actor and this decision is not a reflection of her performance. We sincerely thank the directors of ‘Batgirl’ and ‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt’ as well as the members of their respective casts, and we hope to work with them again soon.”
The studio has declared that ‘Scoob!: Holiday Haunt’ will also be cancelled.
