The American Automobile Major, Jeep, is about to make a formal entry into the BEV (battery electric vehicle) or 100% Electric Vehicle market. The SUV maker dropped the bombshell on its website post presentation of its fourth-quarter earnings by unveiling the roadmap for all future projects. The launch of the vehicles is expected in 2022-23.
Carlos Tavares, Chief Executive Officer, said, “It is important to see that the Jeep brand is absolutely on the right tempo to serve on the successful electrified technology of our company”. Currently, the brand offers hybrid variants for couple of its SUVs like Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe. As of now, no 100% automated EV from Jeep is seen in the market, but the CEO has promised that there will be an electric variant for all SUVs by 2025.
The most obvious and interesting question is that which will be the first model to witness the EV segment. Industry speculators are betting on Jeep Wrangler as the model that kicks off the company’s journey of EVs. However, the is no official confirmation on it as of now. Jeep fans and Electric Vehicle enthusiasts can rejoice this news together which will see the iconic brand take another huge step in its glorified history.
