The South Korean tech multinational – Samsung held a launch event of its new Galaxy smartphones in the metaverse technology, but many people struggled to gain access as they had technical difficulties.
Samsung hosted this event on Decentraland – which is a cryptocurrency-focused virtual world that users can create, explore and trade. Decentraland is a 3D virtual world browser-based platform where users can create an avatar which they can navigate around the blockchain-powered virtual world using a mouse and keyboard. It is more associated with players operating headsets or smart glasses that allow them to live, work and play in a virtual world.
The event took place in Samsung 837X, in a virtual building that Samsung built in a replica of its New York experience center. But many people struggled to find the 837X building and when they did many of them were unable to access it. Samsung said that “visitors and the Decentraland community have given us a highly positive response, seeing it as a fresh spin into an all-digital world.”
“Unfortunately, a technical issue in one of Decentraland’s realms prevented some people from accessing the event. As soon as we knew of the issue, we informed the community via Twitter and redirected our visitors to a new entry,” Samsung added.
