Mark & Spencer blames Brexit for closing 11 stores in France due to supply chain problems implied by the law.
M&S stated that the lengthy and complex” export processes introduced after Brexit had made it difficult to get fresh products such as sandwiches and salads from Britain to Europe.
Paul Friston, Managing Director of M&S, said, “The supply chain complexities in place following the UK’s exit from the European Union now make it near impossible for us to serve fresh and chilled products to customers to the high standards they expect. Resulting in an ongoing impact on the performance of our business.”
Brexit has maintained the pressure on supply chains which is already grasping by the straws due to the pandemic and high demand. M&S had to change the strategies of its European business as a result of Brexit.
